On June 21, 2011 Council received a report on Adaptable Housing for information and directed staff to develop bylaw changes to require 50% of all new apartment units be built to the Adaptable Housing Standards of the B.C. Building Code, effective January 1, 2012. A report outlining the applicable bylaw changes is expected to go to Council in September.
This study was initiated to consider alternative parking solutions to support the new Zoning Bylaw and to meet anticipated future parking demands.
At the Council meeting held Tuesday, October 19, 2021, City Council adopted “Zoning Bylaw Amendment Bylaw 2021, No. 5129”, which incorporates new Short-Term Rental regulations.
Once the planned federal Cannabis Act comes into force and effect, the City will oversee retail locations and rules, land use and zoning. New zoning and business licence regulations have been prepared.
