Celebration and Activity Grant

The Celebration and Activity Grant Program is an initiative to encourage residents and community groups of Chilliwack to engage in neighbourhood or community projects that promote positive social benefits, awareness, inclusion and connectedness.

The program supports residents and organizations who have small, but powerful ideas that will bring people together to make their neighbourhood or community a vibrant and liveable place to be. Projects should engage, educate and celebrate community members. For example, a community festival or block party would be eligible for consideration of funding.

Residents can apply for amounts between $100 to $1,000 per project. Funding can support planning, organizing, and the implementation of neighbourhood/community events. Successful applicants match their requested amount with contributions of volunteer labour and services, donated materials, and/or dollar amount. The funding serves as a partnership between the City and the applicant where each contributes towards a proposed project. For example, if an applicant is applying for $1,000 grant, they need to show or contribute an equal amount through volunteer labour, supplies or dollar amount.

Please note that funding does not support the dispensing, sale, purchase and consumption of alcohol on public property. The host(s) acknowledge that any funding or resources provided by the City of Chilliwack for this event will not be used for the procurement or consumption of alcohol.

All Chilliwack residents, students, community groups, and organizations or associations can apply. Informal groups, businesses and organizations are also eligible to apply and do not have to be a registered association. Non-Chilliwack based organizations may apply, provided the event is being held in Chilliwack and benefits the community.

Although the City of Chilliwack will make every effort to accommodate requests, applications submitted less than six (6) intake days from the start date of the event may not be eligible for funding or other resources.
