Description:

Join the B.C. Wildlife Federation’s Wetland Education Program for a FREE 1-day Map our Marshes workshop on April 30 in Chilliwack! Learn about the different types of wetlands and how to map and protect them. This entry-level workshop will introduce you to the basics of wetlands and mapping, using free software, GPS, and your smartphone. No previous experience is necessary. If you are interested in learning about wetland plants and animals, soil sampling, stewardship skills, and wetland mapping then this workshop is for you. You will take away an in-depth understanding of the important services that wetlands provide such as filtering water, mitigating flooding and providing critical habitat for wildlife. Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity to become a conservation steward in your community! The course will provide technical training on how to track changes to wetland landscapes through GPS education, which lays the foundation for habitat protection and conservation. This one-day introduction to wetlands will leave you feeling empowered, connected to a language of technology and supported by trainers from the BCWF in future stewardship endeavors.
