The Downtown Chilliwack Community Market takes place Sundays from 10am to 2pm, from May 28th to October 15th, on the traditional and unceded territory of the Stó:lō Peoples. Our market of local growers, gatherers, bakers, crafters and makers is a space where new relationships can form and thrive around those offerings, connecting the people of Chilliwack with quality food and goods. As part of the Downtown Chilliwack Farmer’s Market family, you can expect a friendly community environment, marketing support, and boundless enthusiasm. DCCM is an inclusive space and works towards achieving accessibility for all.

2 pm – 3:30 pm Come to the library for information from Service Canada about government services and benefits such as Old Age Security, the Canada Pension Plan, health-care programs and other related questions. The information session will be followed by a clinic in which a Service Canada representative will be able to sit with clients to review pension information and or other related questions.

4pm – 5pm Come and create music in the great outdoors. The students in Early Childhood Education at the University of the Fraser Valley have teamed up with the Sardis Library and invite you to come and explore creative and innovative instruments using recycled material. Dress warm and come prepared to experiment with sound! This program will run rain or shine. Drop-in.

2 pm – 4 pm Join Bernie Walter as he shares his incredible story of friendship and trust between man and beast. Bernie's presentation will include stunning photographs and the heartwarming story of the 10 years spent on Ellesmere Island in Canada's High observing Arctic Wolves in their natural habitat.

6 pm - 7:30 pm It’s never too soon or too late to make changes and to learn strategies to maintain or improve your brain health. Join a representative from the Alzheimer's Society of BC for this free, drop in workshop that will cover topics including: • What is a healthy brain? • Natural aging changes • What is dementia? • Risk reduction • Memory and brain training

The Chilliwack Quilters’ Guild are holding our biannual quilt show “Sew’d to Joy” on Friday, October 13 from 5pm – 8pm, and Saturday, October 14 from 9am - 4pm, at the Chilliwack Alliance Church at 8700 Young Street in Chilliwack. Admission is $8.00; children under age 15 and spouses get in for free. This is our first post Covid show! There will be a display of quilts of all sizes from Crib size to King size bed quilts, wall hangings and other smaller quilted items created by our members. In addition there will be a Merchants’ Mall, White Elephant Table, Members’ Boutique, a Challenge Quilt contest and demos of quilting techniques. As a special treat we have included an old fashioned bed turning, where we will show around 20 vintage quilts from our members. This year’s Queen size raffle quilt, designed by Georgette Dell’Orco for Cozy Quilt Designs, and sewn by our members, will be on display with raffle tickets available for purchase. A food truck will be on site with refreshments. We are able to accept debit and credit cards for purchases $10 and up; anything below $10 is cash only. Sorry for any inconvenience. 

The Guild is a busy group which has weathered the Covid public health restrictions by moving to Zoom meetings for two years. We are back to in person meetings now, but through all the challenges and changes we have never stopped quilting and donating quilts to the community – 221 quilts were given to 11 different groups in the last year alone. The funds raised at the quilt show and raffle are used to purchase the necessary materials to support members in making and donating quilts. Guild members engage in many activities; however, our main focus is to ensure that the art of quilting in its many forms remains alive and active in the community. 2 pm – 4 pm To celebrate Canadian Library Month, we would like to thank you — our valued customers! Join library staff for light refreshments, try out a session of Virtual Reality and enjoy activities that highlight all the library offers. Please note for virtual reality: Each play experience will be around 15 minutes long, registration required. Please call or drop by the library to sign up. • This program is intended for those ages 10 - 18 • Parents/guardians must sign the waiver • Participants play at their own risk

Join Cycle Chilliwack on the Vedder Rotary Trail to learn more about GoByBike, cycling trails/paths in Chilliwack, enjoy some refreshments, and win some prizes. 2 pm – 3 pm This presentation introduces what frauds and scams are, common methods and schemes targeting Canadian seniors, safety strategies, and resources to consult if you or someone you know has been affected by frauds/scams. While intended for an audience of seniors, the information presented will be useful for the public in general. Presented by Linda Yauk from Seniors First BC. Drop in.

Chilliwack RCMP is proud to host Coffee with a Cop Thursday, October 26th from 10:00AM to 11:00AM. Members will be connecting with community members over a cup of coffee. Stop by and say hi and get to know the officers in your community!

Join us for a Novel Night to Remember, an evening of delicious food, exciting bidding, and live music all in support of literacy programs in our community! Come see your favourite book characters come to life and support literacy programs like Silver Surfers - teaching technology to seniors, Bookworm Friends - reading to children, and English as an Additional Language - helping newcomers to our community. 1pm - 2pm join us for the GoByBike BC Bike Parade. This fun and all ages Bike Parade will wrap up our GoByBike BC Weeks in Chilliwack. Decorate your bike and come out to ride from the Vedder Bridge to Peach Road and back via the beautiful Rotary Trail. Prizes for the best decorated bike and more.
