The Fraser Valley Refugee Readiness Team is holding a free community information session for anyone interested in learning more about renting to newcomers. It will take place on Tuesday, November 14 from 7-9pm in the Slesse room at Evergreen Hall and will include hearing from a newcomer about their lived experience finding housing in Chilliwack. There will also be a panel of local professionals that will answer the community's questions about the benefits and logistics of renting to newcomers. Light refreshments will be served. Join Chilliwack Hospice Society for the Annual Memorial Celebration, November 22, starting at 6:00pm, at Vineyard Community Centre. A time of reflection and support in the company of others whose loved one has died, the Annual Memorial Celebration is for everyone who is grieving. Please bring a framed photo of your loved one. Set in the fictional North Georgia town of Hickman Hills, this hilarious play revolves around an ad hoc meeting of a women’s social club called “The Glitter Girls”. The meeting is convened by its richest member – one Trudy Tromaine – who is supposedly at death’s door and wishing to bequeath some of her millions to one lucky “Sister of the Gleam and Sparkle.” The hitch is that it’s the members themselves who must decide who will be awarded the fortune (with hopes that the Glitter Girl they select will see it in her heart to share the money with the rest of her ‘sisters’). The play can be described as Steel Magnolias meets Survivor, with a big dose of quirky humour thrown in for good measure.
