Downtown Pedestrian Breezeway & Yale Road Crosswalk
Construction Progress
The pedestrian breezeway connecting Yale Road to the Victoria parking lot and the Yale Road crosswalk are now complete. Thank you to everyone for your patience throughout the process. The P is illuminated every night, paying tribute to the former Paramount building sign and directing pedestrians to the parking area.
Project Details
The downtown breezeway connects Yale Road to the Victoria parking lot making it easier to access businesses downtown. The 370 square metres of public plaza construction includes:
• stamped concrete | • street trees |
• drainage | • concrete planters |
• ornamental lighting | • bike storage lockers and bike racks |
• landscaping | • benches |
• chess tables | • food truck pad |
• archway | • arbors and trellises |
The crosswalk on Yale Road was relocated to connect the downtown breezeway to the District 1881 businesses. It includes rapid rectangular flashing beacons to create a safer crossing for road users.
