REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (RFEI)
"VEDDER ROAD INTERCHANGE"
DESIGN - CONSTRUCTION PROJECT
The City of Chilliwack and the British Columbia Ministry of Transportation announce the commencement of a competitive two-stage process leading to the selection of a design/build team for the design and construction of the Vedder Road Interchange Project. This RFEI process is intended to identify (shortlist) three design/build teams with the necessary capabilities, resources, and environmental practices to perform the work. The short-listed teams will be eligible to participate in the Request for Proposal process in the subsequent stage.
The Vedder Road Interchange Project is partially funded by Transport Canada under the Strategic Highway Infrastructure Program (SHIP), in partnership with the Ministry of Transportation and the City of Chilliwack. The City will manage this Project on behalf of the Partners. The objective of the Project is to improve the main access to the City of Chilliwack and the safety of vehicles entering and exiting the Trans Canada Highway. The Scope of Work may include, but not be limited to:
a 4-lane overpass crossing the Trans Canada Highway;
signalization of intersections;
reconstruction of on and off ramps from Vedder Road to the Trans Canada Highway;
widening of Vedder Road to 6 lanes from Luckakuck Way over the new interchange to 300 meters north of the Yale Road west intersection; and
provision of pedestrian sidewalks and cycling bike lanes to improve the multi-modal utility of the crossing.
Construction of the Project is scheduled to start in the Spring, 2003 and be complete by December, 2004. |

| Sealed Expressions of Interest from complete teams clearly marked with the Proponent's name, address and "Vedder Interchange Project" shall be received by the undersigned at the office of the City of Chilliwack not later than 3:00 p.m., local time, November 5th, 2002 and will be used to 'short list' the Proponents. Proponent teams or individuals not possessing the complete expertise, ie., both design and construction, will not be considered. A maximum of three (3) teams will be invited to submit detailed Proposals.
The RFEI package will be available for pick-up beginning October 8th, 2002 at the City Clerk’s office at the City of Chilliwack. Inquiries may be directed to "Eric Dyck, Project Director" at (604) 793-2739.
A Pre-submission meeting will be held in Council Chambers at City Hall at 10:00 a.m. on October 21st, 2002.
