Trail Safety and Etiquette

We are lucky to have access to so many beautiful trails in Chilliwack, but with increased popularity and different users, there are increased challenges. Trail safety and etiquette guidelines are designed to ensure everyone enjoys outdoor spaces safely and respectfully.

Vedder Rotary Trail Event

When: Saturday, June 14
                10am - 4pm

Here are some tips to stay safe and share the trail:

  • Respect all private property.
  • Travel in a consistent, predictable manner.
  • Clean up litter. Pack out what you pack in.
  • Joggers must pass on the left after giving a vocal warning to slower traffic.
  • Dog walkers must use a short leash, walk dogs on the outside edge of the trail and clean up after their dogs.
  • Cyclists must give a warning by voice or bell and pass on the left.
  • Parents can teach trail etiquette to children by explaining these guidelines for their safety.
  • Walkers should not walk more than two abreast.
  • Do not allow your dog to run into the water, as it can innocently destroy salmon eggs.
