Elk Mountain has an easily accessible trailhead that can be reached via a short drive through the Ryder Lake Area. This trail featuers alpine meadows and an excellent view of the entire Fraser Valley and surrounding mountains.

The trail begins and remains in the forest for the first hour, with a friendly uphill grade. After the hour mark, the climb will get steeper. You'll reach the first major lookout on Elk Mountain in approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Rest there and enjoy the view of the Fraser Valley, but don't quit yet! The real reward for all of your hard work is about another 10 minutes up the trail, where you'll see breathtaking views of Mount Slesse, Border Peaks, the Chilliwack River and surrounding mountains.

Elk Mountain is roughly a 8.2km round trip trail with a 790m elevation gain. The trail head starts within City of Chilliwack limits however the trail is operated and maintained by the FVRD so if you spot any issues please contact them here FVRD Contact Page
