Chilliwack River Road Sidewalk Project
Timeline
The Chilliwack River Road Sidewalk Project began in August and is scheduled to be completed by October 31, 2025.
Current Works
Construction is scheduled Monday to Friday from 9:00am - 3:00pm. There will be single lane closure for the duration of construction.
Background
Tzeachten First Nation, in partnership with the City of Chilliwack, will be making improvements along Chilliwack River Road, from Iron Horse Development Road to the north property line of 6185 Chilliwack River Road. Located along the west side of Chilliwack River Road, this project includes:
- A new 1.8m wide concrete sidewalk with driveway letdowns, curb, and gutter.
- Surface water drainage improvements.
- Repaved 1.5m bike lane with pavement markings.
This sidewalk project will bridge the existing gap and connect residents to Promontory Road, providing access to transit, schools, and shopping.
Completed Works
Market Way and Tamihi Way Letdowns
Accessibility improvements were made at the intersection of Market Way and Tamihi Way to enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility throughout the community. 8 new concrete pedestrian letdowns were installed to improve sidewalk access.
2024 Completed Works
Works included new sidewalks, sidewalk letdowns and crosswalk installations.
Concrete works improvements completed were :
- Sidewalk installation on Hocking Avenue along the frontage of 45910 Hocking Avenue.
- Sidewalk letdowns and crosswalk installation on Walden Street, near Leary Integrated Arts and Technology Elementary.
- Zebra crosswalk and sidewalk letdown installation at the intersection of Ashwell and Spadina.
- Sidewalk letdown installation on Alexander Avenue at the entrance of 45816 Yale Road.
- Asphalt path connection from Teskey Rd to Weeden Drive stairs.
