Residents can apply for an Exemption Certificate to water new sod or seeded lawns during water restrictions. If possible, it is recommended that new sod or seed be installed during the spring or fall months in order to establish sufficient roots which would decrease your lawns dependence on surface watering in the summer.
An Exemption Certificate allows watering any day between 5 and 8 a.m or 7 and 10 p.m. (during Stage 3 Water Restrictions, watering new lawns is allowed only between 5 and 8 a.m.). Watering outside of these times may result in revoking of the certificate and a fine.
Requirements can be dropped off at the Engineering Department or sent by email to email@example.com.
- Submit proof of purchase (receipt)
- Submit photos of new sod/seeded lawn
Exemption Certificates will be valid for 21 days from the date of installation (or 14 days during Stage 3 Water Restrictions).
Please contact the Engineering Department at 604-793-2907 for further inquires.
