Nature Park
Formerly the Department of National Defense's ‘Wet Gap Training Area’, the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve is 130 hectare site managed by the City of Chilliwack.
The un-dyked floodplain habitat is home to over ninety Great Blue Heron nests and a wide variety of rare wildlife and vegetation. Inside the Rotary Interpretive Centre, the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve Society runs a variety of programs, services and informative displays including an online, web-based Heron Camera that allows visitors a glimpse into the activity of a Great Blue Heron nest.
To respect the natural ecosystems within the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve, cyclists and dog walkers need to restrict their activities to the main Centre Trail only. Thank you for your cooperation.
The 3 kilometres of internal trails connect with the Vedder North Dyke Trail to the north and the Vedder Rotary Trail to the south.
