Sub Neighbourhood Park
Edwards Park was scheduled for redevelopment as part of the overall 2013 Community Play Structure Program. This park is centrally located at the intersection of Princess Avenue and Edwards Street and is approximately three quarters of an acre. As more people move into Chilliwack's downtown core, this park will experience an increase in the volume of users and become more significant in the neighbourhood.
When this park was redeveloped, existing play structures were replaced with a playground that catered to all age groups, in order to provide a sense of place with structure and longevity. This was accomplished by using organically shaped concrete play borders, concrete and asphalt pathways and an open guardian seating area.
A tree fort-themed play structure with faux logs and stick ladders invites the older kids to use their imaginations. With two separate platforms connected by a flexible bridge, there are endless possibilities of fun and imaginative play. The playground also features the Seven Spin, spinning fun for seven users, and a large swing set to complete the 5-12 year old play elements.
Edwards Park has become the place to be for the neighbourhood children and will continue to offer playground fun for many years.
