Nature Park
Located in the Eastern Hillsides area at 51930 Hack Brown Road, just off the Annis Road freeway exit, Lexw Qwò:m (luhw KWOM) park features a day use picnic area, parking lot and a trail network that connects to the Community Forest.
The project was made possible thanks, in part, to the Chilliwack Park Society, who built the trail network within the park through volunteer labour. The City funded the project, constructed the parking lot and day use area, refurbished the disused Dunville Creek and Nevin Creek water intake structures as trail bridges, and supplied trail building materials to trail building volunteers.
Lexw Qwò:m Park was given its name in consultation with Carrielynn Victor, who previously worked for Stó:lō Nation and is a member of the Cheam First Nation. In the Halq'eméylem language, “Lexw Qwò:m” means always lots of moss, which is fitting for the park as the area consists of old growth rain forest which is covered year round in blankets of moss.
This work was completed in 2020 in coordination with all the groups mentioned above.
