Your Home Owner Grant ("HOG") is considered a form of payment and you may claim it online until December 31.
If you have not claimed your HOG by December 31st, interest will be charged on the unclaimed amount at the provincially legislated rate (currently 10.2%) beginning January 1st and you will be required to submit a Retroactive Home Owner Grant Application in order to claim the grant.
Remember, in order to avoid the first 5% late payment penalty on the HOG portion of your taxes, you MUST submit your completed Grant application by July 2, 2024, even if you are not making FULL payment at that time, or if your taxes are paid by instalment or by your mortgage company.
To avoid the second 5% late payment penalty on the HOG portion of your taxes, you MUST submit your completed Grant application by August 1, 2024.
