Proof of Identity and Residency
DO YOU HAVE YOUR IDENTIFICATION READY?
Pre-registration is not required to vote, and voting cards will not be distributed. Individuals must register at the time of voting.
Accepted Identification for Voting
Resident Electors
You must provide two pieces of identification that collectively show:
Your name,
Your address, and
Your signature.
At least one piece must include your residential address. Examples include:
Primary ID: BC Driver’s Licence, BC Identification Card (BCID), or BC Services Card (with photo).
Secondary ID: (name and signature or address): Canadian Passport, Certificate of Indian Status, SIN Card, Credit/Debit Card (with signature), Utility Bill, Property Tax Notice, Mortgage Statement, or Vehicle Registration.
Non-Resident Property Electors
You must provide two pieces of identification that collectively show:
Your name,
Your address, and
Your signature.
Primary ID: BC Driver’s Licence, BC Identification Card (BCID), or BC Services Card (with photo).
Secondary ID: (name and signature or address): Canadian Passport, Certificate of Indian Status, SIN Card, Credit/Debit Card (with signature), Utility Bill, Property Tax Notice, Mortgage Statement, or Vehicle Registration.
Note: A BC Services Card combined with a Driver’s Licence counts as one piece of ID.
Proof of Property Ownership
You must also provide one of the following documents:
Title Search,
Property Tax Notice, or
Certificate of Title.
Written Consent of Other Owners
If the property is jointly owned, written consent from the majority of owners designating you as the elector must be submitted when voting.
Important Notes
You can only vote as a non-resident property elector for one property.
You cannot be registered as a resident elector in the same jurisdiction.
