Set in the fictional North Georgia town of Hickman Hills, this hilarious play revolves around an ad hoc meeting of a women’s social club called “The Glitter Girls”. The meeting is convened by its richest member – one Trudy Tromaine – who is supposedly at death’s door and wishing to bequeath some of her millions to one lucky “Sister of the Gleam and Sparkle.” The hitch is that it’s the members themselves who must decide who will be awarded the fortune (with hopes that the Glitter Girl they select will see it in her heart to share the money with the rest of her ‘sisters’). The play can be described as Steel Magnolias meets Survivor, with a big dose of quirky humour thrown in for good measure.

Annual Chilliwack Rotary Christmas Parade

Back for its second year from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. on Dec. 2 and 3. This fundraising event showcases local businesses, artisans, and youth entrepreneurs. To add a touch of magic to get the season off to a joyous start, the hall will be decorated with Christmas trees, holiday music will be playing, and there will be a huge selection of festive homemade cookies to choose from just in time for the holidays. There will also be a 50/50 raffle, silent auction, and door prizes. Admission is free and all proceeds help support activities for the Air Cadet Squadron.

1 pm – 4 pm The talented Chilliwack Senior Secondary school jazz band will be performing some holiday favourites from 1:15 – 2:15. Self directed crafts and light refreshments will be available 1 pm to 4 pm. Drop in.

12 pm – 1 pm Join members of the Chilliwack Harmony Chorus as they celebrate the season-barbershop style! Everyone is welcome to join us for holiday refreshments and an enjoyable hour of Christmas music.

6 pm – 7 pm Tuck into a story this winter! Children and caregivers will be entertained with festive stories, songs, rhymes followed by a craft. Pyjamas and/or ugly Christmas sweaters are welcome!

10:30 am – 12 pm Our senior customers are invited to join us for light refreshments, Christmas themed Bingo and a reading of a popular Christmas story. Drop in, no registration required.

3:30 pm – 4:30 pm Join us for hot chocolate, decorate sugar cookies and enter a contest for your chance to win a $50 gift card. Wear your ugliest Christmas sweater and we will use our selfie station props to make a photographic memory! For ages 10 – 18. Drop in, no registration required.

December 28th - FREE SWIM! The Optimist Club of Chilliwack is sponsoring a free swim for youth ages 18 and under at the Leisure Landing Centre. Arrive between 2:00 and 5:00 pm for your free entry (space permitting) on Thursday December 28th to take advantage of this free swim. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult and will also get in free.
