KEY DATES

NOMINATION PACKAGES
Starting Thursday, January 2, 2025, nomination packages will be available for downloading or pick-up at City Hall from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, except on Statutory Holidays.  

NOMINATION PERIOD
Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 9:00 am to Friday, January 24, 2025 at 4:00 pm

 The Chief Election Officer or Deputy Chief Election Officer will receive nomination documents during this period.  

If nomination documents were submitted by fax or email, the originals must be received by 4:00 pm on January 31, 2025.

If you want to submit a nomination challenge, you must apply to the Provincial Court by January 28, 2025, at 4:00 pm

CAMPAIGN PERIOD
Saturday, February 1, 2025 to Saturday, March 1, 2025

Candidate and third-party expense limits apply during this period.

DECLARATION OF CANDIDATES:
It will be posted on our website on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 4:00 pm.

DECLARATION OF ELECTION BY VOTING:
It will be posted on our website on Monday, February 3, 2025, at 4:00 pm

FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE STATEMENT LATE FILING DEADLINE WITH A $500.00 LATE FILING FEE

Elections BC administers campaign financing, disclosure and election advertising rules under the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act. 

Candidates, elector organizations, and third-party advertisers must be aware of new campaign financing and advertising rules for the 2025 Chilliwack School District No. 33—School Trustee By-Election.

Key changes include:

Elector organizations must register with Elections BC to endorse a candidate, receive a campaign contribution, or incur an election expense. Read more about new rules for elector organizations.

Sponsorship contribution limits apply to contributions made by eligible individuals to third-party sponsors.

Third-party advertising rules apply during the pre-campaign period, which ends on January 31, 2025.

All election advertising during the pre-campaign period must include an authorization statement.
