Relive the Vancouver Olympics with 14 Gold: Images from the 2010 Olympics, a solo photo exhibition by Chilliwack Progress photojournalist Jenna Hauck running Jan. 18 to Feb. 27 at the Chilliwack Museum, upstairs in the Chambers Gallery. Opening reception is Saturday, Jan. 18 from noon to 2 p.m. The majority of the images in this show never made it to the pages of The Progress, so 14 Gold is Chilliwack's chance to finally see what Hauck experienced in Vancouver and Whistler in 2010. Fittingly, the exhibition will be on display during the 2014 Olympics taking place in Sochi, Russia from Feb. 7-23. Admission is free on opening day (Jan. 18). For students who have finished Robotics Engineering 3.1, this course expands on their problem solving skills as they learn new concepts such as logic, looping, switches, cases, controllers, remote controls, and more. The emphasis is on programming structures, with increased focus on using variables, logic, and switches in programming. Projects include "Hammer Bots", and the course concludes with a mini "Sumo Bots" competition where students' robots compete against each other. Ages 9-14 4:15pm - 6:15pm $130

Robotic Systems 2.2 course teaches more about applications for gearing and motors. Concepts will include engineering principles such as torque and gear ratios. Students will build projects that include mechanical parts such as worm gears and transmissions. The Cascadia Wind Ensemble under the direction of Shannon Goldsmith will present some of the well known "lollipops" of the musical repertoire from around the world including a pinch of jazz on this thrilling travel adventure. Joining Cascadia will be harpist Joanne Hankey and vocalist Penny Dalton.

This wonderful program will explore the history of song including traditional, folk, pop, rap, & rock to name a few. Each of these 6 sessions will build upon the other. Children will delve into creating a song – by learning song composition and techniques, and tips on how to write lyrics.
