Description: GARDENING FOR WILDLIFE SATURDAY, OCTOBER 7 11 am to 2 pm FREE! You’re invited to the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve on Thanksgiving Saturday to help restore the wetlands by planting a shrub or two. And it’s free! The wildlife will thank you. Shrubs provide food and shelter for all kinds of animals and birds. Native plants like willows attract insects, which provide food for fish and birds. Some shrubs have delicious fruit for birds (and people!) Other plants grow large and lean over the water, creating useful shade and shelter for fish and frogs. Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to gather with family and appreciate our good fortune. There’s no better way to give thanks for our abundance than to give back to our community. Join with families and friends as we dig a few holes and enjoy the gorgeous nature reserve. All the plants, tools and expertise are provided (although you may wish to bring your own gardening gloves). Why not bring a picnic and make a day of it? Any questions? Give Debora a call at 604 823-6603 or email herons@shawbiz.ca You can check our website www.chilliwackblueheron.com for travel directions.
