CITY OF CHILLIWACK 2025 Annual Report 62 63 2025 Annual Report CITY OF CHILLIWACK Health Care • Continued partnership with the Chilliwack Division of Family Practice (CDFP) to support physician recruitment resulting in the welcome of nine new family physicians and five new nurse practitioners. • Provided administrative support for the Chilliwack Hospital Foundation. Downtown Revitalization • Continued construction of Amato Trattoria, a new restaurant located in the redeveloped buildings on Wellington Avenue. • Added 25 new parking stalls in the Victoria Avenue and Young Road parking lot to increase downtown parking. • Completed construction for the final phase of District 1881. Agriculture Education • Established Chilliwack Farm Story in partnership with Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Chilliwack, and Culture Co. to highlight the value of sustainability, food security, animal welfare, and innovation through storytelling, photography, blogs, and resource sharing. • Hosted the 24th Annual Chilliwack Agriculture Tour with stops at Van Maren Farms, Heritage Barn Chilliwack, Rosebrin Farms, and Southern Irrigation. Chilliwack Creative Commission • Assisted the Chilliwack Independent Film Festival with finding a new venue and expanding its industry component. • Worked with the film industry to facilitate the production of movies, documentaries and commercials including projects such as Amazing Race, Virgin River, and Petro Canada. • Hosted the 10th annual PechaKucha (Japanese for "chit chat") event at Cowork Chilliwack. • Hosted Creative Third Thursdays events monthly. The Chilliwack Economic Partners Corporation (CEPCO) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the City of Chilliwack, with its own volunteer Board of Directors representing local businesses and community stakeholders. CEPCO’s efforts seek to improve the economic well-being and quality of life for the community. This is accomplished through business attraction, retention and expansion, workforce attraction and promotion, site selection assistance, immigration investment, and other related supports and services. CEPCO maintains strategic community and government stakeholder partnerships. The Chilliwack Agricultural Commission, Chilliwack Creative Commission and Chilliwack Innovation Network provide outlets and platforms for community economic growth. CEPCO continues to be the lead agency involved in the award-winning development of Canada Education Park that includes the University of the Fraser Valley, RCMP Pacific Region Training Centre, Canada Border Services Agency, and Stitó:s Lá:lém Totí:lt Elementary/Middle School. 2025 HIGHLIGHTS CHILLIWACK ECONOMIC PARTNERS CORPORATION (CEPCO) Industrial Development • Continued construction on the new Red Bull ingredients facility in the Chilliwack Food and Beverage Processing Park. • LiUNA Local 1611 and Teamsters Local 213 opened a 13,000 square foot education and training school. www.businessinchilliwack.com www.lifeinchilliwack.com City of Chilliwack Recognized with Most Business-Friendly Award As part of the 2025 NAIOP (Commercial Real Estate Development Association) Awards for Municipal Excellence, in recognition of a municipality that consistently performs well across multiple evaluation categories and demonstrates a commitment to policies that support business growth, long-term economic sustainability, and industrial development.
