Annual Report 2022 57 Chilliwack Economic Partners Corporation (CEPCO) The Chilliwack Economic Partners Corporation (CEPCO) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the City of Chilliwack, with its own volunteer Board of Directors, representing local businesses and community stakeholders. CEPCO’s efforts seek to improve the economic well-being and quality of life for the community. This is accomplished through business attraction, retention and expansion, workforce attraction and promotion, site selection assistance, immigration investment and other related supports and services. CEPCO maintains strategic community and government stakeholder partnerships. The Chilliwack Agricultural Commission, Chilliwack Creative Commission and Chilliwack Innovation Network are committees of CEPCO that provide outlets and platforms for community economic growth. CEPCO continues to be the lead agency involved in the award-winning development of the Canada Education Park, which includes the University of the Fraser Valley, the Justice Institute of British Columbia, the RCMP Pacific Region Training Centre, Canada Border Services Agency, and Stitó:s Lá:lém Totí:It Elementary/Middle School. 2022 HIGHLIGHTS ✅ Investment Attraction y Red Bull selected a 15-acre property within the Chilliwack Food and Beverage Processing Park in support of their North American expansion plans. y Southern Irrigation purchased the former Pick-a-Part property for their new headquarters. ✅ Industrial Land Development y Beedie: Skyline Business Park project on Airport Road y Denciti: Fraser Gateway development at former Best Western site y Wesmont: Wesmont Yale Centre complex on Yale Road West ✅ Downtown Revitalization y Work continued in District 1881 with the addition of Thunderbird Lane, Hipwell and Amsterdam Buildings, and the opening of new businesses including Fortitude Wine Bar, The Offy, The Bench Jewellery Co. and CoLab 1881. y Construction of the new Chilliwack Community Services building on the former Paramount Theatre site. y CEPCO acquired several properties and buildings in support of downtown revitalization efforts. 56 City of Chilliwack 57 ✅ Chilliwack Economic Resource Network (CERN) y Projects included: CERN website digital library, community education, Shop Local, and Workforce Connection: The Power of People online series y Partners: CEPCO, City of Chilliwack, Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Chilliwack Business Improvement Association, Tourism Chilliwack, Community Futures South Fraser and Sto:lo Community Futures ✅ Health Care y Recruitment of physicians, specialists and health care professionals with community tours and information packages y Administrative support for Chilliwack Hospital Foundation ✅ Chilliwack Agricultural Commission The 21st Annual Agricultural Tour included four stops: Dutch Heritage Greenhouse, Brooknook Farms, Molson Coors and Canadian Organic Feeds. ✅ Chilliwack Creative Commission y Liaised with film industry to facilitate several film productions including Hallmark movies, TV series, documentaries and commercials y Hosted Creative Third Thursdays at Cowork Chilliwack y The 8th Annual PechaKucha event, featuring six speakers, was broadcast live from Cowork Chilliwack Videos can be viewed here: www.businessinchilliwack.com ✅ Partnerships The Fraser Valley Alliance, consisting of CEPCO, City of Abbotsford, Township of Langley, City of Maple Ridge and City of Mission partnered to create a Fraser Valley website that focuses on attracting investment to the region.
