54 City of Chilliwack The Recreation & Culture Department is responsible for the coordination and provision of recreation and cultural services within Chilliwack. They are responsible for community events, public art, facility maintenance and facility allocations, including sports fields. Recreation & Culture operates: y Evergreen Hall y The Landing Sports Centre y Sardis Sports Complex y Three synthetic turf fields y 58 grass sports fields y 68 ball diamonds Recreation & Culture 2022 HIGHLIGHTS ✅ Public Art: "Gifts of Nature" artwork installed on the 33-foot high silos at Molson Coors' Beverage Company The department coordinates the contract operations of: y Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre y Cheam Leisure Centre y Chilliwack Cultural Centre y Chilliwack Heritage Park y Chilliwack, Sardis and Yarrow Libraries y Rotary Outdoor Pool y Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve ✅ Celebration and Activity Grant: y 37 events supported y 4,500 residents impacted y $15,169 in Neighbourhoood Grant funding provided to support local block parties ✅ Community Events: Supported 84 community events, including Yarrow Days and the Christmas Parade, both of which returned after a two-year hiatus ✅ Community Markets: y Vedder Farm Market at Watson Glen Park y Eco Market at Sardis Park y Yarrow Farm Market at Yarrow Pioneer Park ✅ Landing Sports Centre: Installed a new gym curtain, with full LED lighting Exploring Elk Mountain City of Chilliwack Staff
