Front Entrance at Tourism Chilliwack Tourism Chilliwack Tourism Chilliwack Inc. Led by a private sector Board of Directors, Tourism Chilliwack was incorporated in December 2006 with the City of Chilliwack as its sole shareholder. Tourism Chilliwack was originally established in 1998 as a subsidiary of the Chilliwack Economic Partners Corporation (CEPCO). Destination management organizations reflect the health and well-being of the local travel industry and directly reflect the impact of the accommodations sector in their communities. It is a success-based model and one that has a proven track record of success, because it motivates the organization to achieve more, perform better, and be creative and innovative. Additionally, Tourism Chilliwack demonstrates leadership through their work with Indigenous communities. The creation of Sí:yá:ya Yóyes Friends Working Together Action Plan is focused on guiding Tourism Chilliwack with many Indigenous partnerships, including educating stakeholders and creating cultural experiences. In 2022, tourism in Chilliwack started to return to pre-pandemic levels. The operational changes made during the pandemic will remain in place to allow them to be prepared for any future situations. Tourism Chilliwack recognizes that destination management is an integral part of responsible and sustainable tourism that is woven into all aspects of the organization. 2022 HIGHLIGHTS ✅ Launched "Protecting this Gift" - a significant and impactful shift from destination marketing to longterm focus on destination management and a conscientious move to encourage visitors to be respectful, safe, responsible, and leave enriched. 250,000+ VISITORS TO HERITAGE PARK 140,000 USES OF #SHARECHILLIWACK 18,954 INSTAGRAM FOLLOWERS 10,248 FACEBOOK FOLLOWERS ✅ Partnerships y Chilliwack Pride Society - supported the Pride Festival, fundraisers and branded merchandise, with 100% of the proceeds going back to Pride Society. y FVRD and City of Chilliwack - worked closely on projects such as porta potties for the Chilliwack River Valley and trail signage for "Experience the Fraser". y Collaborated with District 1881 Downtown Chilliwack to open "The Chilliwack Shop" as a second location to connect the community with Chilliwack branded merchandise. y Chilliwack Beer Collab - partnered with all six breweries with proceeds going to Chilliwack Park Society. y Hoteliers - supplied four "Chilliwack Protecting This Gift" branded umbrellas for their guests to use. ✅ Events and Activities - improved seasonal dispersion by increasing social contact and deploying social media strategies at high impact visitation areas. ✅ Tourism Fraser Valley (Hope, Harrison, Chilliwack, Mission, Abbotsford, Langley) in partnership with Destination BC continued to market together to create destination awareness.
