Two new electric vehicle charging stations, one at the Tourist Information
Centre and one at City Hall were installed. The project costs were shared
between the City and the Province.

2012 Transit Service Expansion
Transit route changes to create a high frequency service spine on the Yale-
Vedder corridor were introduced in July. The new Vedder Line offers 20
minute frequency service, attracting additional riders over the old route
system.
2012 Road Safety
Back to school – The Safer City team conducted driver awareness campaigns
at 18 elementary schools in the Chilliwack School District.
Intersection Safety Project
Intersection safety projects which focused on driver and pedestrian
behaviour and safety were conducted and supported by public education
through online surveys, public educational displays and enforcement efforts.
Impaired Driving
Through the coordination of partnerships, awareness signage was installed
roadside across the City advising the public to report impaired drivers;
additionally, local establishments supported the “You Choose Your Ride”

required due to growth in the community.

Flood Protection
The City of Chilliwack is responsible for 50
kilometers of dyking and related infrastructure that
