CITY OF CHILLIWACK 2025 Annual Report 42 43 2025 Annual Report CITY OF CHILLIWACK ADMINISTRATION The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is appointed by Chilliwack City Council and is accountable to Council for the policies and programs delivered by the City of Chilliwack. As the most senior official in the City’s administrative structure, the CAO provides guidance and advice to Council and direction to all City departments. y The most cost effective delivery of services to the public. y Corporate fiscal responsibility and accountability. y The provision of efficient, timely and friendly customer service. y Responsive action to community needs. y Open communication with the community to create a better understanding and appreciation of Council’s role, its policies and its statutory responsibilities. y Continuation of fostering positive relationships with other levels of government. Administration supports council in Committees of Council and departmental operations. By providing guidance to the City’s departments, Administration ensures a coordinated and balanced implementation of Council’s policies. This division of local government is responsible for ensuring: 10 ADVISORY COMMITTEES 57 ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETINGS 2025 HIGHLIGHTS COMMUNICATIONS AND LEGISLATIVE SERVICES Communications works directly with Mayor and Council, senior management, and all City departments to support communications, engagement, media relations, marketing and brand management for the City. 141 MEDIA INQUIRIES 1,513 E-NEWSLETTER SUBSCRIBERS 2025 COMMUNICATIONS HIGHLIGHTS 2025 LEGISLATIVE SERVICES HIGHLIGHTS Legislative Services serves the city in the statutory function of the Corporate Officer, by facilitating council business in the following ways: preparing minutes and agendas, composing, reviewing and providing advice on municipal bylaws and initiating the follow-up action to Council meetings. The department also provides a variety of services to Council and other City departments including: access to information, liquor licensing, bylaw adjudication, records management and administrative support services.
