Chilliwack residents have been able
to mark the start of summer with
the leisurely play in one of the water
spray parks, located at the Cheam
and Chilliwack Landing Leisure
Centres or at Central Community
Park. This year, we have added two
new jewels to the City’s bounty of
outdoor activity spaces. The Island
22 Bike Skills Park is now complete
and offers biking opportunities
for both skilled and novice riders.
Combining the Bike Skills Park with
the other amenities at Island 22 such
as the dog park, and equestrian area,
the island is a destination location
everyone should try to experience.
The Jinkerson Grind, as it is
affectionately known, has quickly
become one of the most popular attractions in the community. Located at
the base of Prest Road this 228 stair climb and adjacent trail system offers
a great workout in itself, however if you are looking for an even greater
challenge join the ‘Grind’ with a hike up Mt Thom, the view from the top will
have made it all worthwhile.
The Active for Life, ‘Chilliwack Walks’ program returns again this year
providing, at no cost, eight walks in eight weeks. What a great way to be
active all while exploring some of the beautiful parks and trails in our area.

offered by the contributors in this Summer Edition of the Leisure Guide.
This guide is the result of the partnerships between the City of Chilliwack,
the Association of Community Programmers and School District #33. Each
contributor brings with them an expertise that collectively addresses the
needs and interests of residents in our community. On behalf of Chilliwack

opportunities!
