The Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve

Come out and discover this peaceful place,
enjoy a walk and watch for the wide variety
of wildlife including one of the largest
breeding colonies of Great Blue Herons
in B.C. Hundreds of herons nest on site
every year from March to July. There are
no admission fees to walk the site or to visit
the Rotary Interpretive Centre.
The Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve is a
beautiful wetland located along the Vedder
River at the south end of Sumas Prairie
Road in Greendale. The programs and
services at this City of Chilliwack site are
managed by the Great Blue Heron Nature
Reserve Society.

The Heron Reserve is pleased to
announce the opening of our newly
renovated Discovery Classrooms. Now
our popular environmental education
programs for schools and groups can
run all year round no matter what the
weather! Book early to get the date
you want and come experience nature!

Astronomy Night!
Join us on the evening Sat. Sept. 14,
time TBA, when the Fraser Valley
Astronomers Society will be bringing
a variety of telescopes to the Heron
Reserve. In addition a guest speaker will
present a special program entitled “The
Sky Tonight”. Rain or Shine!
Wildlife Art
Three local artists will be leading
engaging art lessons with a nature
theme for adults, children , schools,
groups and homeschoolers. Private
group bookings accepted.
Volunteers Needed
Volunteers are essential to the
operation of the Great Blue Heron
Nature Reserve. Consider joining
our team and help with reception, bird
surveys, administration or gardening.

and volunteers keep the Rotary
Interpretive Centre open seven
days a week, 364 days a year.
