City of Chilliwack 24 Operations T he Operations Department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the City's: The Operations Department maintains over 100 parks and natural areas which together make up over 400 hectares of green space. Operations also maintains over 100km of recreational trails ranging from challenging hillside terrain, to easy and flat riverside trails. Providing water and sewer service to properties within the municipal boundaries, the Operations Department maintains and operates: ƒ Parks ƒ Trails ƒ Sports fields ƒ Sanitary sewer system ƒ Potable water system ƒ Roads ƒ Open drainage ƒ Storm sewer system ƒ Dyking infrastructure ƒ Fleet maintenance ƒ 51 sanitary pump stations ƒ Wastewater Treatment Plant ƒ 10 potable water production wells ƒ 14 water booster pump stations ƒ 19 water reservoirs ƒ 4 drainage pumping stations ƒ Over 750 km of water and sewer pipe systems 32 RETREADED TIRES USED FOR EQUIPMENT 1,750 WATER SAMPLES TESTED 1,500+ REPAIRS & PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE WORK ORDERS COMPLETED 1,000+ FIRE HYDRANTS DISMANTLED, SERVICED & REBUILT 200m NEWWATERMAIN INSTALLED 19,300 TOTAL RESIDENTIAL WATER METERS 350 LIFE EXPIRED WATER METERS REPLACED 2019 HIGHLIGHTS:
