Secondary Characters presents "Little Women: The Musical"

Based on the classic novel by Louisa May Alcott, "Little Women" follows the lives of four very different sisters: aspiring author Jo (Steffi Munshaw), romantic Meg (Jackie Block), pretentious Amy (Katrina Barson) and kind-hearted Beth (Caroline Davies), and of course their beloved Marmee (Shelley Wojcik). Along the way the girls befriend the neighbour boy Laurie (Marlin Toftager), welcoming him into their family circle while enjoying his boyish antics. They are guided by Marmee, their ever wise mother who understands that experience is the best teacher. Together their adventures range from creating stories and making new friends, to discovering new places and learning about love while all the while they give us a sense of family spirit that never dies. Completing the cast of ten are Gabriel Kirkley, Kris Ward, Sabine Quilman and John Sovereign. Co-directors for the production are Andrew Smith and Erin Wells. Choreography is done by Shelley Wojcik, and music director Nicola Davies, leads a ten piece live orchestra. "Little Women" opens Thursday, August 5th, 2010, and runs until Sunday, August 15th, 2010. Evening showtimes are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and matine showtimes are Sundays at 2:00pm. Showing at the University of the Fraser Valley Theatre, 45635 Yale Road, Chilliwack, BC. Tickets are $15.50 for adults and $12.50 for students and seniors. 138th Chilliwack Fair - Come for the fun! On behalf of the Chilliwack & District Agricultural Society, I would like to extend an invitation to you to participate in the 2010 Chilliwack Fair. Drawing more than 20,000 people annually over its 3 day run, the Chilliwack Fair is a large scale community event focused on highlighting and celebrating local culture, heritage, business and all the things that make Chilliwack such a unique and amazing place to call home. The Fair is planned and organized by numerous groups and volunteer citizens of Chilliwack for the enjoyment of the entire community, and truly offers something for everyone. From our extensive agricultural exhibits and shows, to the full midway and live entertainment, the Chilliwack Fair is the place to come for fun! In addition to agriculturally focused activities, the fair features a diverse range of entertainment and displays by local artists and artisans, music students, dance teams, school groups and more; all aspects of our community are incorporated so everyone in Chilliwack feels represented. Local youth are encouraged to get involved and participate as exhibitors, selecting from the extensive range of classes (competitions) offered in our Prize book, while local business can embrace the opportunities this gathering of community presents in a number of different ways.

Huskers' Hot Rod Show! The Chilliwack Huskers are hosting a hot rod show (vintage and collector cars are welcome) on Sat, Aug 7. The car show will be from 4:00pm - 7:00pm. The Huskers' play against the Kamloops Broncos at 7:00pm. The People's Choice Award for the car show will be announced at the half-time show. Live entertainment will be by Hot Rod Girl before the game and during half-time. Join us for this exciting event!
