| Description: Canada meets Austria meets the Sto:lo Nation in Chilliwack, for an English language production of W.A. Mozart’s “The Magic Flute“ to be presented at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on the 25th, 27th and 28th of September. The Chilliwack Symphony, together with the Chilliwack Opera Troupe, has attracted internationally experienced singers from Vienna, Salzburg, Toronto and Victoria, and combined them with gifted singers from Chilliwack and Abbotsford, to perform this unique adaptation of the popular opera for small orchestra, inspired through the combined talents of Bernard Blary and Ron Hannah. Also featured in the upcoming production are specially designed masks, created by artists of the Sto:lo Nation. “The Magic Flute” will be conducted by Paula De Wit, Musical Director of the CSO and COT and is directed by Andrea Mellis, a Chilliwack Senior Secondary graduate. Ms. Mellis, with 40 years of international experience as a singer, has also directed in theatres throughout Europe and Asia. |
