Light & Shadow is a group photographic exhibition featuring the works of Mary Askey, Linda Brown, Mary Chalmers Main, Zidonja Ganert, Delphine Gornall, Fred Gornall, Michael Hamilton-Clark, Jenna Hauck, Vickie Legere and Pat Tessier. The exhibition illustrates that the moments we capture and the stories we tell with our images are all contingent on the quality and nature of the light on our subject. Light creates mood: who’s spirits haven’t been lifted by a magnificent sunrise or sunset? Light reflects back on windows and water. Light casts shadows to create drama or a moment of whimsy. 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm. When disaster strikes, older adults need to be ready to take the necessary measures to survive for lengthy periods of time, sometimes without assistance. Join a representative from COSCO, the Council of Senior Citizen's Organizations of BC, as they explore the preparation of emergency kits, safety procedures in dangerous situation and give advice about when and how to seek help. What is elder abuse? How do we deal with it? The BC Centre for Elder Advocacy and Support offers this 90 minute workshop on social isolation and abuse of older adults, types of abuse and people involved, and strategies to deal with abuse.

A FREE one-hour presentation “Stressed is Desserts Spelled Backwards” at 7 pm. In this humorous and highly informative presentation, Chilliwack Mental Health clinician, Lenore Smith, R.N., will answer questions on the subject of stress. Since 2009, dramatic progress has been made re-opening this historic fur trail over the Cascades. When complete, recreationists will enjoy a trail from Hope to Tulameen, following the same route taken by the HBC horse brigades.

Sardis Secondary is holding its second awareness-raising event on National Child and Youth Mental Health Day. The event will be an hour long (6:30-7:30 PM) and the doors will open at 6:00 PM.
