We’ll learn about knife safety, how to follow a recipe, how to make dough, vinaigrettes, and cakes from scratch. All new recipes this Fall featuring home-made favorites! Crafty Kids. Date: Tues. Nov. 4 - Dec. 16 (excluding holidays). Time: 9 am-10 am. Ages: 3-6. Drop in to this Tuesday morning class for some crafty and sensory play with instructor, Stephanie. Story Time & Art Class. Ages: 3-6. Time: 10-11am. Thurs. Nov. 6 - Dec 18. Every Thursday morning we will choose a popular children’s book which will be the inspiration of our art/craft projects for the class. Following all the artsy fun we will finish our literary adventure with a reading of the featured story. Caregivers can enjoy some free time, or stay and join in. Drop in is available but pre-registration is recommended. Maximum 10 children per class. Cost:$5.

Ages 9-14 years, 4:15-5:45 pm, $95. Robotic Systems 2.2 course teaches more about applications for gearing and motors. Concepts will include engineering principles such as torque and gear ratios. Students will build projects that include mechanical parts such as worm gears and transmissions. As students progress, this class allows them more freedom to modify their creations and build complex designs from scratch.

Ages 6-11+ years, 6:00-7:00 pm, $48. Join Coach Codie of the Chilliwack Sports Academy for 8 fun-filled sessions of SPORTS, SPORTS, SPORTS! Each session will feature a different sport including floor hockey, basketball & soccer to enhance your skills and ability. Kids report that sessions with Coach Codie are 100% AWESOME! Join us for some FUN!

Ages 5-7 years, 4:00-5:00 pm, $45. Creativity abounds in this class where kids will create a variety of art using multi-media! Kids will produce delightfully inspired, and unusual art incorporating weaving techniques, wax resist, and a variety of other mediums! All supplies included.

Ages 5-7 years, 5:15-6:15 pm, $45. Kids! Enjoy learning to cook and create a variety of fun and healthy snacks in this class including pizza, fruit parfaits and much more! New recipes this Fall!

Ages 7-11 years, 2:30-4:00 pm, $95. In this hands-on, fun-filled course, students will learn how video games work by creating their own. Students create their own games and will experiment with concepts like game planning, path-based movement, collision detection, level design, dialogue, inventory, and playability.

Ages 3-5 years, 2:30-3:15 pm, $60. Does your child wish to try Ballet or loves to twirl around the house? Help them to explore the world of dance and movement in this class designed for young children!

Ages 6-8 years, 3:15-4:00 pm, $60. The world of dance and movement awaits in this dance class led by Jody! Jody will share her love of modern dance, ballet, and salsa moves created just for kids! Join us for some FUN! No previous dance experience is necessary!

Ages 9-12 years, 4:00-4:45 pm, $60. This class is designed for tweens wishing to explore the world of hiphop, salsa, modern dance and classical ballet! No previous dance necessary! Join Jody for these FUN sessions!

Ages 5-6 years, 4:30-5:15 pm, $45. Join us for FUN and friendship as players are introduced to variety of sports and basic skills to teach sportsmanship, build confidence, and develop motor skills.

Ages 7-12 years, 4:30-5:30 pm, $48. New creations this session! Kids will have the opportunity to bake and decorate themed cupcake creations as well as yummy cake pops in this fun class! Sweet treats will go home to share with Mom & Dad!

Ages 6-8 years, 4:45-5:45 pm, $45. Kids will create a variety of beautiful and functional Baker’s Clay pieces including: a jewelry dish, candle holder, candy dish and other projects! They will decorate these with their own designs to create a truly unique piece of art! All supplies included.

6:30-8:00 pm, $90. Yoga creates an opportunity to consciously slow down and concentrate on movement while being aware of our bodies. Join Yoga instructor Dee as she leads the group through a series of poses to create peace and balance in your life. Each session will end with a guided meditation for relaxation to calm your mind and melt away stress. Class is suitable for all levels of practice.

Ages 4-6 years, 3:30-4:30 pm, $45. KIDS! Explore the interesting world of Science and discover how volcanos erupt, the physics of a catapult, and much more! New experiments this Fall!

Ages 2-4 years, 4:30-5:15 pm, $60. This parent participation program allows young gymnasts to explore gymnastics activities in a structured class, with the guidance of a parent. Gymnasts learn fundamental gymnastic movements and experiment using rhythmic gymnastics equipment, developing gross motor skills and coordination.

Ages 4-6 years, 2:30-3:25 pm, $50. A fun play-based program centering around music, play, flexibility, and physical and mental awareness. The program will develop flexibility, strength, stamina, and agility. Each week will have a set number of poses and activities.

Ages 7-11+ years, 3:30-4:30 pm, $50. Big Kids will enjoy learning age-appropriate yoga sequences through fun activities each week. Studies indicate that yoga improves concentration skills, awareness, muscle strength and flexibility. Kids will gain valuable tools that they can use every day to maintain inner balance and focus in school, sports, at home, and with peers...all while having fun!

Ages 4-6 years, 5:30-6:15 pm, $60. Kids will have fun and get physically active while learning the basics of rhythmic gymnastics. Class will incorporate movement to music with a variety of apparatus such as ribbon, hoops, ropes, balls etc. Certified coaches!

Pop Culture/Masterpiece Mash-Up. Ages: 7-12. Thurs. Nov. 13 - Dec. 4. Time: 3:30-5 pm. Start with a famous masterpiece and add a pop culture twist. Instructor Darlene Kee guides students to create their own pop culture versions of masterpieces such as Van Gogh's Starry Night among others. Cost: $65.

Mixed Media Canvas Collage, 13 - Adult. 7 - 8:30 pm. Thurs. Nov. 13. Make a one-of-a-kind work of art. Pat Gerlach will guide you as you create a unique art piece on canvas using acrylic paint, paper, buttons, etc. All materials supplied but if you have special mementos you would like to incorporate please bring them along. Cost: $19.

Chilliwack Restorative Justice and Youth Advocacy Association present 2014 Chili Fiesta on Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 12 noon to 1 pm at the Sutton Downtown Business Centre, 9240 Young Road, Chilliwack. Chilliwack Christmas Craft Market Celebrating our 40th Anniversary year, the Chilliwack Christmas Craft Market has become an annual tradition to kick off the holiday season. Once again we are excited to offer one-of-a-kind, handcrafted, juried items from a wide variety of vendors from across British Columbia. The Market will take place at Chilliwack Heritage Park: Friday, November 14, 10 am – 9 pm; Saturday, November 15, 10 am – 6 pm; Sunday, November 16, 10 am – 4 pm.

One of the bi-annual fundraisers for the Atchelitz Women's Institute, our garage and bake sale takes place from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, 15th November, 2014. There will be delicious baked goods on sale as well as household items including some items of furniture. Pick up something for the freezer or for the weekend! Copies of the 'famous' Atchelitz WI cookbook will also be available for purchase: these make great christmas stocking stuffers for the seasoned as well as any 'newbie' cooks! We shall also be running a raffle, and there will be free coffee on hand for all! Please note that the proceeds from this event will go towards supporting local charities.

2:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Many older adults find it difficult to get to sleep or stay asleep. This workshop, presented by COSCO Seniors’ Health and Wellness Institute, explores the reasons and remedies. Join us for advice about lifestyle changes that may help you get a better night’s sleep.

From November 12 to December 10, bring in a non-perishable item to any FVRL library and FVRL will deduct $2 from your library fines.* Items collected will be donated to the local food bank. *Up to $30 of fines may be deducted per library account during this promotion.
