When: Every Monday evening between 5 and 7 pm from July 7 till October 6, 2014. Who: Everyone is welcome! Drop in with your locally grown excess fruit/ vegetable harvest for washing and weighing. Why: Because we value quality, homegrown produce, and want to provide an opportunity for locals to share their excess produce with others in our community. The total weight of all the produce collected will be recorded as part of the Plant a Row Grow a Row national campaign. The produce donated will be delivered to Ruth & Naomi's at the end of each drop off.

Every year, on the first Saturday of October at 11:00 am, mothers and children unite at different sites around the world to compete in the annual Quintessence Breastfeeding Challenge to set a record for the most children breastfeeding at one time. The Challenge strives to increase public awareness of the normality of breastfeeding, the benefits to mother, child and community and the ways in which women need support to achieve the recommended duration for breastfeeding. Last year, Chilliwack had 162 babies breastfed simultaneously placing us first in North America and tied for first place out of 220 sites in the world! This is an amazing achievement and we are proud that our community is so supportive about the health and wellness of our children. Saturday, Oct 18 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm join the Chilliwack Community Arts Council for our first annual fundraising event: The Pottery Bowl. The event will take place at The Art Room: 20-5725 Vedder Rd. For $20 patrons will enjoy a bowl of freshly made soup and take the pottery bowl of their choice home with them. These one-of-a-kind bowls have all been handmade by local potters Holly McKeen, Kelly McQuhae, Jan Pratt, and Sue Schellenberg, and have been decorated by twenty-seven local celebrities. Once you select your bowl, the artist responsible for creating it will be revealed. There will be live music provided by artist Mark Andre, as well as a local harvest market on site, courtesy of Greendale Herb and Vine, to add to the festivities.
