| Residents Evacuate Safely from Structure Fire | April 5, 2018 |
On April 5, 2018 at approximately 12:40 am the Chilliwack Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire located in the 9400 block of Coote Street. On arrival fire crews reported seeing smoke and heavy flame from the exterior rear deck and roof structure of a two storey residential home. Firefighters responded from Halls 1, 2, 3, 4 & 6. The fire was stubborn to fight as it was deep seated within the roof structure. Fire crews fought the blaze and contained it to the immediate structure, with minor fire damage to a neighbouring property. Occupants were home at the time of the fire and quickly and safely evacuated the residence. The occupants are now in the care of Emergency Social Services. There were no civilian and or firefighter injuries. The cause of the fire appears to be accidental at this time and is still under investigation by the Chilliwack Fire Department. |
