  Community Youth Officer Program

The Chilliwack RCMP are very active within the schools of our community.  Examples of school involvement and initiatives include - DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) (www.dare.com), CARS BC - Youth CounterAttack and Road Sense Team, Safe Schools, Cops for Cancer, Bicycle Roadeos, the Safety Village and regular school safety talks.

The mandate of this section is prevention and education and in building a positive rapport between the RCMP and today's youth.  With the growing concerns of drug abuse, violence, and unsafe driving, it is paramount that police educate our youth in order to prevent crime and unnecessary tragedy.  Community Youth Officers work in close partnership with school administration, school district staff, teachers, parents and students in order to ensure that everyone can enjoy a safe learning environment.

Community Youth Officers regularly attend schools throughout the community to deliver talks and lessons on safety and crime prevention.

Safety talk topics include:

Street / Stranger Safety

Bullying

Internet Safety

Drug and Alcohol Abuse

Impaired Driving

Road Safety
