D.A.R.E. - Drug Abuse Resistance Education
D.A.R.E. Drug Abuse Resistance Education
The Chilliwack RCMP and the Chilliwack School District are proud to offer the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program to Chilliwack’s youth. D.A.R.E. is an internationally recognized program which seeks to provide children and youth with the information and skills needed to live drug and violence free lives. D.A.R.E. works to establish positive relationships between local RCMP Officers, students, teachers, parents and community members. D.A.R.E. is more than a simple "Just Say No" program. D.A.R.E. teaches students a decision making model which will help them to make healthy and informed choices throughout their lives. By investing time and energy in today’s youth through the D.A.R.E. program we are committed to reducing drugs and violence and preventing crime for the future.
The elementary school D.A.R.E. program which is currently being offered in Chilliwack is taught by specially trained RCMP officers who currently deliver the nine-week program to grade five students throughout the district. Each D.A.R.E. class culminates with a special graduation ceremony in which the students pledge their commitment to staying drug and violence free.
D.A.R.E. lesson topics include:
The D.A.R.E. Decision Making Model
Tobacco
The Media’s Influence
Alcohol
Inhalants
Peer Pressure
Positive Alternatives to Drugs
9 Ways to Stay in Charge
