The City of Chilliwack is proud of its "community development" approach to providing leisure services to the community. Various cultural groups, sport organizations, community associations, businesses, not-for-profit societies and service clubs work closely with the Parks, Recreation & Culture Department to offer residents a variety and balance of leisure opportunities. |

Chilliwack Cultural Centre Project
|

The City of Chilliwack is developing a new Cultural Centre in the heart of downtown Chilliwack. This state-of-the-art cultural facility will include an art gallery, a 500-seat performance theatre, a 150-seat recital hall, a 200-seat studio theatre, music instruction rooms, arts and crafts studios and related amenities. It will be located on City-owned land at The Landing, adjacent to existing sports and recreation facilities and Prospera Centre. Construction is expected to begin in April 2008 with completion in 2010. |

The final draft of the Parks and Recreation Strategic Plan was released Jan 19, 2004. The plan outlines the direction to be taken by the Parks and Recreation Department over the next five years. |

Prospera Centre

Prospera Centre is now open! Prospera Centre, home to the Chilliwack Chiefs, includes a main arena with an initial capacity of 3,500 seats, and second ice rink for community use. |
